In Celebration of Women’s History Month: A Brief History of 3 Icons of Jewelry
March is officially recognized as Women’s History Month, and it is a prime opportunity to reflect on the impact women have had throughout history. From abolitionists to scientists, from teachers to doctors, from authors to politicians, women have had a profound effect on the world around us. Being the jewelry obsessives we are, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on a few key women (out of many!) who have meaningfully altered the world of jewelry. Whether by designing jewelry or influencing the way women adorn themselves, Suzanne Belperron, María Félix and Iris Apfel have created seismic shifts in the jewelry landscape.
The Legacy of Marina B
On February 14th of this year, designer Marina B passed away. She was 93. To say that Marina B was an icon of fine jewelry seems too small of a sentiment. The granddaughter of Sotirios Bulgari, who founded the famed Italian house, Marina finished her studies in art and mathematics before taking over the helm of the family business from her father, Constantino, in 1973. Soon after assuming the role of CEO for the brand, Marina realized that she needed to break from the family business in order to fully realize the potential of her creativity and vision, and, in 1978, she launched Marina B. Her first showroom was in Geneva, with stores in London, Milan, Monte Carlo, Paris and New York quickly following.

How Often Do You Think About the Roman Empire?
How often does a typical man think about the Roman Empire? A lot more often than one would assume, apparently. This gender-specific phenomena first went viral in 2022, when Swedish influencer Saskia Cort encouraged her followers to ask the men in their lives this question, and again in August of 2023 when another Sweden-based influencer gave the prompt new life.
A Brief History of Aldo Cipullo
It’s difficult to believe that something as straightforward and ubiquitous as the Cartier Love Bracelet was once considered revolutionary, and yet when it was launched in 1970, it was a seminal moment in fine jewelry’s storied history, establishing a cosmic shift in what was considered de rigueur.
